Considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Iguazu Falls and the namesake National Park in Argentina have reopened their doors to visitors.
Since the site was closed due to COVID-19 on March 20, the national park, which in 2019 welcomed more than 1.6 million visitors, had remained closed to all visitors, including national ones. The mayor of Puerto Uguazu, Claudio Filippa has announced a gradual reopening since mid-July.
For the moment, only 200 visitors are allowed per day, divided into groups of 50. The accompaniment of a professional guide is mandatory and health protection and distancing measures are checked regularly during the visit.
The Iguaçu Falls have 275 waterfalls over nearly 2.7 kms, the discovery is made on paths dipped in the rainforest to access the footbridges that offer spectacular views of this emblematic site located between the Argentinian and Brazilian borders. The Parc Nacional do Iguaçu (Brazil side) has no announced reopening date.
