On the 14th of October, the country joined the list of international destinations that have obtained the Safe Travels Stamp, given by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), by complying with global hygiene and health protection protocols which will help to regain the confidence of international travellers.

The stamp was officially provided during a virtual meeting with the participation of Mr. Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Argentina. The meeting was also attended by Ricardo Sosa, Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), Gloria Guevara Manzo, President and Chief Executive Officer of the WTTC, Claudia Grynszspan, President of the Federal Tourism Council (CFT), María Inés Albergucci, Undersecretary of State for Quality, Accessibility and Sustainability of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, and Mr. Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Argentina. Aldo Elías, President of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT).

“We celebrate the WTTC’s initiative to offer tourists from all over the world a travel experience that focuses on safety and quality of service throughout the value chain. More than a dozen health protocols developed by Argentina for the tourism sector are the result of a joint effort by the public, private and academic sectors. Now, aligned with the WTTC “Safe Travels” label, they reinforce the message we are sending out: Argentina is open for business and ready to welcome travellers from all over the world,” Lammens said.

For her part, Guevara Manzo emphasised that “Argentina is a major travel destination in Latin America, internationally recognised for its incredible natural surroundings, traditions and authentic gastronomic culture, which is why it has established itself as a major tourist attraction in the region”.

This recognition awarded to INPROTUR, a public and national body, is a distinction that honours the entire Argentine Republic. In this sense, Mr. Sosa said: “The awarding of the label is the culmination of the efforts made by our organisation, in coordination with business leaders in the sector in Argentina and abroad, and also in direct cooperation with the Argentine provinces, to continue to position our country as a leading destination in South America”.

“INPROTUR is redoubling its joint work with the CFT and the CAT to award the “Safe Travels” label to Argentine destinations and companies that develop and operate responsibly,” added Mr. M. Bové. Sosa on the INPROTUR’s ability to award the distinction to provinces, destinations and companies that integrate into their tourism development the protocols developed by the National Ministry of Tourism and Sports with the Institute of Tourism Quality (ICTA), the CAT and the CFT, aligned with the global protocols of the WTTC. The health protocols for the tourism sector in Argentina are available in several languages and can be consulted on the INPROTUR hub. ʺ
