Doing so from above, with a fantastic panoramic view as a backdrop while savouring the tasty Ecuadorian gastronomy, is an experience that should definitely not be missed on your trip.

There are several places that have been adapted to take full advantage of the city’s special appeal. Places that, in addition to offering excellent service and quality cuisine, offer their customers the opportunity to discover these rooftops for an unforgettable experience. Discover our selection:

Negroni Rooftop

Negroni Rooftop (D.R.)

This bar/restaurant is located in the “heart” of Cuenca’s historic centre, opposite the Abdón Calderón square. It is a beautiful terrace of one of the most elegant historical houses in the city: the Jerves Calero mansion, built in 1917 in the characteristic French neoclassical style.

According to its owner, Juan Pablo Vintimilla, this recently opened venue was born with the vision of offering a new concept of haute cuisine and mixology, in a unique space where it is possible to enjoy a different experience of gastronomic pleasure.  The Negroni Rooftop offers one of the best views of the city, so that visitors are immediately captivated by the beauty of the panorama: the imposing domes of the new cathedral, the towers of the churches, the tiled roofs of the colonial houses and, of course, the decoration of the place whose colours are inspired by the famous Florentine cocktail.

The Negroni Rooftop has an elegant French and English style, which is a classic and modern mix. It offers a varied menu of international cuisine and a wide selection of cocktails.

Cupulas Azules (Hôtel Cruz del Vado)

Cúpulas Azules (D.R.)

The Cruz del Vado Hotel belongs to the “Art Hotels Ecuador” chain, which has contributed significantly to luxury tourism in the country, betting on the restoration of old and elegant historical houses, transforming them into charming hotels, each with its own and differentiated style.

The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful houses in the traditional neighbourhood of El Vado: the former premises of the newspaper El Mercurio, built in 1932 on the site of the former colonial house of the famous writer Federico Proaño. The classical architecture of this building was fully respected during its restoration to become a hotel, inside which many works by local artists are exhibited.

The hotel’s restaurant, called “Cúpulas Azules” (Blue Domes), is located on the roof of the building and, in addition to an excellent menu of Ecuadorian cuisine with a gastronomic touch, it offers its visitors the possibility of enjoying an incomparable view of the south of the city, and a privileged view of the beautiful historical buildings of the centre.

Restaurant “Zielo” (hôtel Tryp by Wyndham Cuenca Zahir)

In addition to winning several awards for its innovative style and excellent service, this hotel introduces a new concept in its rooftop restaurant “Zielo”. It has a spectacular terrace with a 360 degree view of the city. There are 6 tempered glass domes that have been strategically installed (one large, three medium and two small romantic domes for couples). Each space can be decorated in a personalized way according to the wishes of the guests.

Rooftop Cuenca is one of those “chic” places where the decoration has been designed to take full advantage of the rooftop, from which you can see the whole city. Its menu offers a variety of fusion cuisine options, including sushi, tiradito de pulpo, pork tacos a la Barbosa, tapas, etc. In addition, the cocktails will satisfy the most demanding palates.
